With only a few short weeks left until the Smith Rock 50k training has been interesting I must say! My last race a few weeks back proved to be the most painful ever. 2 days later I was diagnosed with double hip bursitis. Although I am doing almost everything the doctor advised I have chosen to do a few extra items of my own.
This is dead center of the height of race season. I've chosen to cancel two shorter races between now and the Smith Rock Ultra to rest. My training miles have been cut back significantly and I've come to terms with the fact I most likely will NOT PR at this event. So my goals will be to run safe and have a steady and smooth race.
In addition I maintaining flexibility and focusing on staying at my race weight. I am hydrating daily with Nuun to keep my electrolytes up and get my Vit B's! My Nuun team has really been a big support and I am excited to run with them in Terrabone at the event. Nuun love!
My gear will be a focus of another change I am making. I do believe shoes contributed to this problem as well as over use, the cold temps, and other varying factors. I will blog about the gear later but one change is for sure.... Nathan hydration vest will be gone. I love it but believe I want to take a more minimalist approach on this run given the temps aren't to high, then it's a whole different story.
Stay tuned for more updates!
